Tropical Bird

Industrial Design
Tropical Bird   2011

It was designed as a bird shape away from the existing simple rectangular pen tray. Pens placed on the wings and back of the bird look like feathers, so users can create a variety of moods depending on the type of pens. This object won the 2012 Red Dot Design Award in Germany.
What if bird feathers were colored pencils? It was Matter & Matter’s first prop design with a concept "Let's put colored pencils instead of feathers," the CNC model was first introduced to study the design process for manufacturing.
Sculpting wood with a CNC machine is a method that is not usually used for existing wood products. Depending on the computer data, wooden objects that have been processed precisely by the machine create a special look that does not feel like wood.
